A Fortnight Without You

I should ink a huge tattoo of you on my wrist,
So I'd have a picture of you everywhere I go.

I should have an inscription of your name on every cherished belonging I own,
So I know that I always have you.

I should write our initials on that tiny space on my chest, right where my heart is,
So I'm reminded that we are one.

So that with every rise and fall of my chest,
I'm reminded that we have become one.

Your favourite song is my favourite too,
Your favourite colour mine too.
Although it seems like ages since you left,
I'm consoled by two wonderful facts;
That you love me just as I love you,
And that you'll be back again.

And then we'd continue
The long passionate kisses,
The safe feeling of your warm arms
around me in an embrace,
feeling like a 14 year old in love for the first time,
giggling and kissing,
cuddling and feeling.

I should paint a portrait of us,
wrapped in the comfort of each other
and I should pick the colours,
which truly describe us,
which truly describe our love.

I should think of you and make a scent,
I should count the stars,
and imagine them form your name.
I should stare at your picture as the sun sets,
and cry and miss you more.

I should play over and over again,
the song you love so much.
I should sit in your favourite armchair,
and let the tears flow freely
till I'm soaked and dripping.

I should stare at the window
from sunset to sunrise,
Waiting,
and waiting,
and waiting for you,
I should lay my head on my pillow
and meet you in my dreams.....
